ISPer's recommendation: Don't miss the chance to feel like a local. Taste some of Peru's most iconic dishes like ceviche, emoliente, or lomo saltado. And of course, the Peruvian coffee and chocolate can't be missing! If you do not feel like exploring the local food, instead you can visit visit the pre-Inca ruins of Huaca Pucllana, El Malecon, and the Bridge of Sighs.

Visit the highlights of Lima, a city with an uninterrupted history of more than 2,000 years is perhaps the most fascinating city on the continent. In many ways, it's a hidden city and the best way to appreciate its historical and architectural richness is by walking. Ancient pre-Columbian temples, Colonial churches, and mansions, abandoned haciendas, Republican houses, early 20th-century buildings, and modern villas, all share a space, side by side, in this amazing city.

ISPer's recommendation: Visit the Barranco District. Barranco is Lima’s artsy and bohemian neighborhood, known for its vibrant street art, galleries, and cafes. Wander through its colorful streets and check out the murals. Cross the Bridge of Sighs, a romantic spot with a great view of the Pacific Ocean. According to legend, holding your breath while crossing the bridge will make your wish come true.

Visit the archeological sanctuary of Pachacamac, located 30 km south of Lima. It was a pilgrimage site for many cultures that developed in ancient Peru. Upon the arrival of the Incas, the complex was adapted to become an administrative center, respecting and adapting the local constructions. You can find there the Temple of the Sun, the Acllahuasi, the Palace of Taurichumbi, and the Pilgrimage Plaza, among others. You will also visit the Site Museum to get a better insight and appreciate the salvaged remnants of the area.

Experience one of the most beautiful and enigmatic ancient sites in the world. This small but extraordinary city perches atop the mountains at 8,000 feet and is invisible from below. On the way up, contemplate the amazing view of the landscapes of the Sacred Valley of Urubamba and the Amazon rainforest, providing you a small hint of how much Peru has to offer.

Take some time out of the city to discover some historical and natural relics of a time gone by. Moray is home to a circular farm terrace, which the Incas used as an agricultural laboratory of sorts, it is the very reason that 400 species of potatoes can be found in this region! Next, you'll visit the Maras salt mines, which features geometrical salt "puddles" which offer different types of salt with their unique textures and flavors.
