The city is also famed for its architectural ensembles, including Baroque mansions and gardens, as well as the grand buildings, monuments, and parks along the late 19th-century Ringstrasse. The city's heritage includes its medieval core, based on the Roman settlement, principal Baroque ensembles with axial layouts, and Gründerzeit constructions from the early modern period.
